In Brief
Act One is a 52-storey (including plant) skyscraper at the heart of the evolving Southside district.
With a major focus on health, well-being and social interaction, the 170-metre tall, low-carbon “Vertical Village” would reanimate Thorp Street to become an engaging part of the City Centre, characterised by its Chung Ying Plaza public space, and a centrepiece King Kong structure.
Delivering 487 build-to-rent (BTR), smart-enabled apartments, in a range of 220 one, 221 two, 43 three-bedroom apartments, and 3 penthouses, Act One features a unique amount of amenities plus over 19K SF of commercial at both ends of the building – including at the retained 17 Thorp Street at ground level.
Amenities include a welcoming double-height reception, with a gym and wellbeing suite on levels 1 & 2; workspace, self-service bar, kitchen, dining, meeting areas, screening room, karaoke suite, play space, and a tropical garden on level 48; a bar & restaurant on the 49th floor; and a unique new 360-degree public observation deck with a 4,202K SF external terrace on floor 50.
A fundamental part of the development is its new public realm at ground level. Chung Ying Plaza would become the site's vibrant new public space; a space that overturns Thorp Street from a back street to a bustling public, and green, destination space, with fluid links to Hippodrome Street, Hurst Street, and beyond.
Act One is a car-free affair; however, a bike club would be set up to offer e-bike charging, repairs, and hire services.
