Long lost to demolition during the mid-20th century when the site once housed dense back-to-backs and terraced housing, the site will re-establish new frontages to both Upper Gough Street and Chapmans Passage for the first time in a generation.
Recognising the emergence of new projects in the area, the I-shaped Corstorphine & Wright design will be spread over five to seven storeys and will be formed around two landscaped courtyards.
Accommodating a wide range of lifestyles, the project includes a hearty array of one- and two-bedroom apartments, together with 5 two-bedroom duplex townhouses - eleven have been assigned affordable, with 25% available as 'First Homes'.
Complementing the living spaces will be a fifth-floor roof terrace offering both exercise spaces & views across the city, spaces for 56 cycles, and private balconies to select apartments.
Brought forward by Upper Gough Street Ltd (Rainier Developments), the development also includes a new pedestrianised thoroughfare to Chapmans Passage, which will go a long way to sewing together the fabric of the street to (ultimately) provide fluid access to the historic Peace Gardens.
