Southside Residences, a 146-home development spread across 12 storeys at 16 Kent Street, has today been approved before Christmas.

Prosperity Developments sought the go-ahead for the redevelopment of the site at 16 Kent Street, Southside.

The project involves the construction of a part 9, part 12 storey new build, providing 111 one & 35 two-bedroom apartments (39-77 sqm NDSS).

Designed in a unified grid with deep reveals and textured red brick on its lower floors, with a smoother red brick with detailing on its upper floors, 16 Kent Street has been designed by Glancy Nicholls.

On-site amenity provisions totalling 655 sqm will be provided, including a rear courtyard, a foyer, a shared lounge, and two roof terraces at Level 9.

The development will have two stair cores and three lifts providing access to the upper floors, with the roof level boasting a habitat roof, air source heat pumps, and PV panels.

A car-free development, 148 cycles will be available for residents living here, to be accessed via Lower Essex Street.

Approval draws a line at the site, which has had its fair share of noise-related issues - all widely publicised.

With The Nightingale removing its objection, Prosperity will now pay monies into an escrow account held by the city, for the Club to draw down on to put towards noise mitigation measures at the club.
