GATHER & SOUL

Gather & Soul is poised to become a vibrant, inclusive, and interconnected 155-bed co-living community for young professionals.

The site will become Birmingham’s inaugural energy positive building, demonstrating a resounding commitment to environmental sustainability.

52 Gas Street will be replaced with a viable new G+ 14 storey, with a shoulder block of G+ 6 storeys (Ground: 3.5m; upper floors: 3m), along with new canal and street pedestrian connections.

Fostering engaging common areas, glazed spaces will line the street and will include a gym, cinema room, a selection of lounges, flex space, games room, dining rooms, and, on its upper floors, communal kitchens.

Each roof will also be utilised with the addition of quaint green terraces and gardens.

The existing Toll House, next door, will be repurposed to provide resident workspaces.

SUSTAINABILITY:

Although at an early concept stage, a key commitment of G&S would be an IBPV solar façade on the main building, which is projected to generate more than 427 kw of energy a year, helping to promote renewable energy sources.

This would also contribute surplus electricity back to the grid, helping to illuminate Gas Street, which was the first street in Birmingham to be lit by gaslights.
